Top 3 Video Marketing Mistakes

There are a lot of folks using video for marketing their goods and services these days. that’s a good thing as so many browsers are looking for visual examples, personal touches and want to “Know, Like, and Trust” who they do business with.

But I see video marketers getting frustrated by the lack of views, lack of leads, or lack or conversions. here are the top 3 mistakes I see in video marketing and how to avoid them.

  1. No Strategy. Video marketing cam be your foundational marketing strategy or it can dovetail with your existing strategy. But using it as simpley a “tactic” is not going to get you very far. Don’t get me wrong – it’s an excellent tactic for lead generation, authority building, conversion, etc., etc. However, You must have a complete strategy that goes further than “Show & Tell”. Your marketing strategy is your playbook and your game plan. Spend some time creating the game plan that will take you all the way. A strategy that allows you to win and not just show up on the field hoping for the best.

  2. No Consistency. I see a lot of folks give up on the 1 yard line. That’s a shame because of all the work that has been put into getting there goes to waste. Just as they are getting some traction, they get distracted of chase the next new thing. Starting a blog is a commitment. Having a social media presence is a commitment. Having a successful video strategy is a commitment. I see people (myself included) get overwhelmed by all the mdeia outlets that need to be  fed. Using video as your foundational strategy, you can easily feed all the social media mouths that are squaking for your attention.

  3. No Clear Expectation. This is a double whammy. As a video marketer you need to have expectationa about the results of your efforts. You also need to set the expectation of your viewers too.As a marketer you want to have clear goals and objectives of your campaign. What is the commitment? How many outlets will you reach? What constitutes a successful campaign?  Do you have a baseline?The viewer needs to have their expectation sset as well. This is who the authority is! Here is the information you will get! Here is the “Next Step” you must take for success/further information/etc.!

    Failing to set expectations on your campaign and your viewer will lead to dismal results.
